An interior design tip for outside the home is to remove the foliage and other plants that are obstructing your home from view. A home with overgrown plants and bushes has a rundown appearances. It can be difficult to decorate a basement because you cannot possibly imagine what you could do in such a dark and gloomy place. If you use some brighter colors and fabrics, you can turn your dark, damp, depressing basement into a place where you will want to spend time with your family.
Try to avoid using deep, dark colors for paint and furniture unless the room is adequately large. Dark paint and furniture makes a room feel smaller. If you really want to use darker colors in a room, try to offset it with lighter colors to even out the affect.
Use wallpaper to upgrade shelving. Assemble-yourself bookcases are an economical choice, but they tend to be boring and look a bit cheap. To make them more stylish, try adding a bold wallpaper on the back of each shelf. Arrange your books and knickknacks to show off the pattern. This simple trick will give a store-bought shelf some pizzazz without breaking the budget.
